Love Letters of World War II
August 28-30 at 8pm
Love Letters of World War II, our original theatrical contemporary dance work, combines live music by acclaimed New Orleans based artist Sarah Quintana, dynamic choreography, and the heartfelt narration of authentic wartime letters to illuminate the true story of Yvette and Roger, a French couple separated by war. Alongside the central love story, audiences encounter the courageous women of the French Resistance, nurses serving near the front lines, the Stage Door Canteen, the deployment of Louisiana's French-speaking Cajun soldiers ("Frenchies") whose linguistic abilities and cultural heritage played a critical role in Allied military operations and overall victory.
Original choreography by Monica Ordoñez | Original music by Sarah Quintana, coproduced by Piment Rouge
